April 17, 2011:

The Carshalton Cheerleaders sent two groups to the London Marathon this year. They raised the roof and gave the runners a real lift all day long!

Energy was strong as the weather was perfect and cheerleaders from various squads of the Carshalton team came together for this event full of good causes.  Crystals Intensity, Carshalton Sapphires and Gold and Bronze squads were delighted to be positioned at Mile 25 with the Alzheimers Society, whose 457 runners are on course to raise £350,000 this year. The cheerleaders gave the fund-raisers a real energy boost with support and encouragement.

The second squad giving it all they could was Carshalton Silver, cheering for one and all, especially supporting the fund-raisers of CLIC Sargent, the children's cancer charity. Hopes were high as the turn out this year was bigger than ever.

2 April 2011:

Crystals Intensity were back at Selhurst Park for an invitational visit on Family Day.

Our cheerleaders were excited and drew large crowds in the hours before the match.

Once on the pitch, it was perfection as usual with the routine hitting all it's highlights. A shame the music was cut short, but friends and family all reported the day was a great success.

Crystal Girls (CPFC) and Crystals Intensity (CC) became friends. And Palace won their match as well.

We are amazed at our successes with Crystals Intensity bringing so many new cheerleaders into the squad since last September. Well done girls. You put on a brilliant performance. We are so pleased that Gold placed so highly in the largest division in the competition. And as you can see by the scores, Silver also pulled off an amazing routine. Sapphires have, to date, an unbeaten record! Congratulations girls.

Our Cheer Magic Youth and Junior/Seniors shined throughout.  We will be adding hip hop to our competition schedule, so keep an eye out for these developments.  We also hope to develop our stunt groups (4 girls keep a flyer in the air for 1.5 minutes!) and look forward to more successes alongside their Crystals sisters.

We want to thank all our coaches for all their efforts throughout the competition season. You can be very proud of the results for all your hard work

WELL DONE TO ALL THE CARSHALTON CHEERLEADERS!

10 January 2011

Saturday night January 8th was Christmas once more as the Carshalton Cheerleaders put on their postponed Christmas Show! The sold-out venue, Carshalton High School for Girls was packed out with parents, grandparents and friends as almost 200 cheerleaders presented 20 different numbers.  Included in the programme were several solos with Scarlett B, Ashleigh H, and Katchanski P showing the crowd incredible tumbles and confident presentations.

Rachel P sang beautifully and played the guitar to shouts of surprised delight from her teammates who were only aware of her athletic abilities!  The Crystals, top squad of the Carshalton Cheerleaders and winners of over 100 trophies in 15 years, amazed the crowd with their technical skills and ability to entertain. The adult squad, the Sapphires made their first CC home performance. A fantastic night was enjoyed by all marking 17 years of providing top cheerleading in the Sutton area.

Many thanks to our Christmas Show committee for their organisation and fund-raising. Thanks to Andrew Lockyer for the sound. Also, thanks to the Super Seniors for adding their own brand of high quality cheerleading to the event!

7 November 2010

The Carshalton Cheerleaders, comprised of over 200 cheerleaders from 7 London Boroughs, have smashed all previous records with 6 FIRST PLACE TROPHIES! The event was the BCA Southern Classic Cheerleading and Dance Competition, held over the weekend (Nov 6th & 7th) in the Devonshire Park Centre in Eastbourne.

Cheer Magic Youth Pom Dance, with the Mayoress of Eastbourne

The competition is now so large that the event runs for two full days filling two arenas in the centre. The Carshalton Cheerleaders were winners in 6 different age and skill groups. The cheerleaders, based in Carshalton High School for Girls and various other local halls, filled the competition venue with supporters and amazed the judges with clean technical skills and invigorating routines.

Head Coach Jean Eve has praised the girls, aged 8 to 30+ with their commitment to their teams. The Carshalton Cheerleaders, organised in 1993 are unique in that they build not only pyramids, but also confident and engaging young people. The team regularly trains new coaches, and has been rewarded in 2004 with charitable status. The parents and supporters committee hold regular meetings with 30 to 50 parents planning fund-raising and future events.

On Saturday, Sept 18th the Carshalton Sapphires and the Crystals Spirit Dance Team were happy to add some entertainment and enthusiasm to the Help 4 Heroes campaign. The event was held at the Butterchurn Pub in Sutton and the local committee of  Emma Byers and Chris Garrett and others report that nearly £6,000. was raised! It was a lovely sunny afternoon and the seniors of the Carshalton Cheerleaders wanted to support this worthy cause with lots of cheer while locals enjoyed the many craft stalls and the great barbecue.

23 November 2009 press release

The Carshalton Cheerleaders and Palace Crystals Cheerleaders of CPFC have just returned from the BCA Southern Classic in Brighton with 5 First Place trophies! The Palace Crystals Group Stunt entry earned a perfect score from an American judge, in one element of the scoresheet.

Cheerleading team skills are divided into 5 competitive levels internationally. The majority of teams compete in Levels 1 – 3. There are few Level 4 teams and even fewer Level 5 teams in the UK.

The Palace Crystals earned 1st in both 'Teams Level 4 & 5 mixed' and Group Stunt Level 4.

Jean Eve states: I am the Technical Director of the British Cheerleading Association. I am an International Standard judge. I train the British judges. I have regular contact with American judges. In my 15 years involved in cheerleading competitions, I have never seen a perfect score given for any element of any scoresheet.

The Group Stunt division is a routine of where one of the 5 cheerleaders is lifted or tossed overhead continuously for 1 and 1/2 minutes.

American judge Barry Green wrote "Wow! My favourite so far!"

10 November 2009 press release

The Carshalton Cheerleaders (CC) Pom Crazy Silver squad (ages 9 to 12) have been extremely active over the last year and were presented with the Sutton Sports Council Team of the Year award for 2008-2009. The award was honouring participation in many community activities such as Carshalton Carnival, Cheam Fair, and Sutton Showcase Showdown. Other activities have taken them out of the borough for their support at the Hampton Court 5K Fun Run and cheering for Merstham Football Club. But by far the greatest achievements have been at competitions, where the girls have shown exceptional skills and talent for their division, both in regional and national cheerleading events.

9 November 2009 press release

It has been a strong and positive year for the Carshalton Cheerleaders. Our team has 14 active coaches responsible for the coaching and development of 10 squads. But the unsung heroes are the volunteers of the Parent Cheerleaders Association (registered charity # 1104522).

It is the volunteers who support the cheerleaders, organise fund-raisers, chaperone and mentor for events and competitions, and provide opportunities for bonding and having fun.

The Carshalton Cheerleaders parents were recently among the stewards at the Wallington & Carshalton Round Table fireworks display. The organisers were impressed with the levels of commitment and enthusiasm of our volunteers!

America

In December 04 the Palace Crystals and Cheer Magic Senior travelled to Las Vegas to compete in the American National Championships held in the MGM Grand (the largest hotel in the World). A total of 50 cheerleaders and supporters stayed at the hotel where everywhere you looked you could see a group of cheerleaders or dancers. It was amazing standing on the competition floor and looking out at so many British flags. We spent 2 mornings in the Cheer Nation Gym just out of central Las Vegas. I'm sure many of the girls could've spent the whole trip in this cheerleader's heaven with a full size sprung floor, tumble tracks and trampolines. After 3 days of competiting, sunbathing, a lot of shopping, and with loads of new friends we returned home to a red a blue crowd at Gatwick Airport who were eager to see our trophies from 6 divisions.

The Palace Crystals and Cheer Magic Senior are proud to announce their results:

Cheer Magic – Senior Dance – 2nd
Palace Crystals– Senior Allstar Cheer – 10th
Partner Stunts (red) – Senior Stunt Group – 4th
Lauren – Senior Cheer Solo – 5th
Jessica & Kayley S. – Senior Cheer Duo – 2nd
Emma & Amanda – Senior Dance Duo – 5th
